PAS promotes education for all in the planning process, to encourage community engagement in creating positive places. With over 20 years of experience, the expertise of our staff and volunteers inspires and empowers people across Scotland.
PAS offers specialist training for Community Councils to assist their role as community activists in their local areas, in particular their understanding of the planning system and how they can influence it.
Community Councils have the statutory right to be consulted on planning applications in Scotland. As statutory consultees, it is vital for Community Councillors to understand their rights and responsibilities in the planning system, as well as the opportunities to become more engaged through the Development Plan, as well as at the planning application stage.
Community Council training introduces the planning system in Scotland in an accessible way, followed by specific sessions on the role of Community Councils in development planning and in development management and a series of interactive workshops and planning exercises. PAS Community Council training is delivered by professional planners (MRTPI). We can deliver training where you are on weekdays or Saturdays.
As part of our training we offer independent and impartial advice as well as continued aftercare and support after each event through our advice service.
